Sony S1 & S2 Get Name Change And Spec Leak

  • by

This week is Europe’s largest consumer electronic show, IFA and it’s going to be a tablet-centric IFA, with Sony amongst others, unveiling its S1 and S2 tablets.

Well ahead of their unveiling sometime this week – the name of the tablets appear to have changed as well as some tentative specs being leaked too.

They appear to be calling them Tablet S and Tablet P – we preferred S1 & S2 if we’re honest. The P is the going to be a clam-shape tab, a la the Nintendo DS.

It will be sporting a 5.5-inch display, Sony’s own skinned version of Android Honeycomb 3.2, Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 512 MB of ram, and a front-facing 0.3mp camera.

Weighing in at only 370g (the iPad 2 is 601g) the Sony Tablet P will be hoping to encroach on the smartphone/tablet market by combining the small and unique form-factor as well as being a fully functioning tablet.

The tablet we’re most excited about is the S1 or Tablet S and it’s expected to come with a 1280×800 touchscreen, Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, PlayStation Suite, WiFi, DLNA, Qriocity media support, Adobe Flash support and the usual cameras, Bluetooth, and media player.

We’ll be giving you all the news from IFA over the coming week so stay glued to Gadget Helpline for all the breaking news.
