Sony may currently be throwing everything they have at the latest Xperia Z Android running smartphone but rumours are coming out that shortly after the latest flagship Xperia lands on our shelves, Sony will then be releasing a companion Xperia L mid-range smartphone variant.
This is a pretty common occurrence in the smartphone world as most manufacturers bring out ranges of handsets which normally cover a super high end model, a mid-range phone and then possibly a budget handset (a great example is Nokia’s Lumia 920, 720 and 620 smartphones).
A few leaks have appeared in the past few days about the proposed Sony Xperia L Android smartphone, stating that it will be a decent mid-range handset with a 4.3-inch 854 x 480 display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz dual-core processor and Adreno 305 graphics, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD slot and an 8 megapixel camera, all of which would have been classed as a high-end smartphone this time last year!

Sources close to Sony centric site Xperia Blog say that the Sony Xperia L is sized at 128.7 x 65 x 9.7mm and will come sporting the latest version 4.1.2 of Android Jelly Bean.
The handset has been given the model number C210X and is codenamed ‘TaoShan’, but there’s unfortunately no news on when the Xperia L will be released and what it looks like at the moment.
We love a good mid-range smartphone and Sony may be on to a winner here with these specifications.
