The smaller sibling of the new Sony Xperia range – the Xperia Go – has just gone up for pre-order. This inexpensive alternative may not have all the eye-watering spec of the Xperia S but it sure packs a pocket-sized punch for the undemanding smartphone buyer and comes in at a nice price to suit.
Running on a respectable 1GHz dual-core processor, the Sony Xperia Go presents the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating software (with future upgrade to new Android 4.0 ICS on the way). This, on a tidy 3.5” capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. All this is supported by 512MB of RAM and a generous 4GB of storage with potential for expansion with microSD card.
The onboard camera comes in the form of a 5-megapixel shooter with LED flash, however this one has no front-facing camera. But the Xperia Go does benefit from a handy waterproof casing which protects the gadget even submerged in one meter of water and for up to 30 minutes. Connectivity comes in the form of Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth 3.0 with Micro USB 2.0.
Peripherals include battery, charger and user guide and the Sony Xperia Go is now up for pre-order on Unlocked-Mobiles for £219.97 (inc VAT) with 24 month manufacturer’s warranty and shipping scheduled for July the 2nd.
