We are currently in a special period of the year called the pre-MWC period where no matter how hard tech companies try, the massive line-up of devices that are awaiting official announcements at next week’s Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona are struggling to stay a secret.
Another of today’s leaks is the rumoured Sony Xperia Tablet Z2, which has been codenamed “Castor” and has been revealed by serial revealer @evleaks on Twitter.
A snap and some specs have been released for the waterproof tablet that showcase Sony’s intentions in the tablet market. The Castor, or Z2 if you like, is rumoured to come with a large 10.1-inch screen and a 1,900 x 1,200 pixel resolution for Full HD goodness.
The twitter post says:
“Sony XPERIA Z2 tablet: SD800 (2.3GHz x4), 10.1″ 1920×1200 Triluminos, 3GB/16GB/microSD, 8MP/2MP, 6000mAh, 6.4mm, KK 4.4, waterproof”
For those not used to the tech happy shorthand, this means the Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 will come with a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat and a 10.1 inch screen which will be of the Triluminos variety.
It’ll have 16GB of in built memory as well as a micro SD card slot for expansion and an 8 megapixel rear facing camera and 2 megapixel front facing snapper. All of this somehow fits into a 6.4mm thick shell and is completely waterproof (well… to an extent!)
Sony is also expected tor release a Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone which will share many of the same specifications but in a smaller shell as its flagship Android smartphone for 2014.
It all sounds very nice from Sony, but we will have to wait and see next week if all the leaked information is true when Sony takes to the stage from MWC 2014.
