That crafty leakster @evleaks has gone and done it again by leaking the Sony Xperia Z1S just hours (or possibly days) away from the mini version of the Xperia Z1’s launch, which is supposedly to be happening at CES in Las Vegas.
The new Android device is scheduled to be announced today by Sony at its introduction keynote. The leak not only shows off the miniature handset but also provides a series of specifications for the Mini handset. Evleaks has a sordid history of leaking handsets and 99% of the time being completely correct with the information too, so it’s hard to think that the Z1S information will be too far from the truth, especially as the handset is due to be announced today.
The specs show that the Z1S will come with many of the same features as the larger Xperia Z1 device which is unlike many ‘Mini’ smartphones where normally both the size and specifications of the device are cut down. The Xperia Z1S will reportedly sport a Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.2GHz plus 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.
The screen on the handset is a 4.3-inch display with 720p HD resolution (which is lower than the Z1, but is as good as it gets for the size of screen). On the back it has a 20.7-megapixel camera and around the front, a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper. The device is powered by a 2300mAh battery and the Z1S will come sporting the slightly older Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS.
We are expecting a full release later on today by Sony when the company takes to the stage to open up CES 2014 officially.
