Lucasfilm knows that you don’t like spare change weighing heavy in your pockets, so while the cinema seat is still warm from your half term trip to watch Star Wars: Episode One – The Phantom Menace 3D, its already been revealed that you’ll be able to purchase the movie on Blu-Ray disc at some point this Spring.
The news comes from the release partner for the last set of Blu-Rays, Panasonic, which has promoted the Star Wars relaunch as well as offering Blu-Ray players and home cinema set-ups complete with movie bundles and will be doing the same for the 3D re-re-releases. The first of the prequels featuring memorable characters (for all the wrong reasons) such as little “Ani” Skywalker and Jar Jar Binks and saving factor Darth Maul, will hit the high density disc format again – just five months after it featured as part of The Complete Saga, a definitive box set of all six (heavily reedited) movies which was released in September 2011.
We’re happy to see a fast turnaround for the lesser-loved trilogy, because we eagerly await the real trilogy to make the jump to lightspeed again in 3D, with Episode IV – A New Hope presumed to begin showing in cinemas in early 2015.
