The annual Disney expo D23 took place in Anaheim, California over this past weekend and with a new Star Wars movie just four months away the event was a truly galactic affair. The stars of The Force Awakens stood united, previous unseen footage was shown and the props were on display, along with some exciting new products announced to celebrate the saga – including a wicked Darth Vader themed PS4 console!
Jumping on the Millennium Falcon-shaped bandwagon, Sony officially launched the Star Wars Limited Edition PlayStation 4 in a video teaser that played on D23’s final day and the promo showed off the hardware as it emerged from the Sith Lord’s meditation pod with the Emperor’s chilling voice summoning it with the famous line “Lord Vader. Rise…”
The Force is strong with two PS4 bundles available both of which will include 500GB console in black (obviously) with Vader partially silhouetted over the words “Star Wars” which are repeated over and over in a subtle pattern. The DualShock 4 supplied is also shiny and black with Star Wars logo pattern on the touch surface and the control pad features red and white buttons, referencing Darth Vader’s chest piece from the movies.
As for the different packages, one will include the long-awaited Star Wars: Battlefront Deluxe Edition and a voucher to download four classic Star Wars games digitally via the PlayStation Store. The second is for the more playful padawans and is labelled as a Walmart exclusive. It comes with the Disney Infinity 3.0 game and starter figure pack along with the four digital titles thrown in as well.
Arriving on November 17th just in time for Episode VII – which lands a month later, we think the Star Wars Limited Edition PlayStation 4 will be on quite a few people’s Christmas list. We know it to be true. We have felt your presents.
