The source of most internet related time wasting, StumbleUpon, has a shiny new app for iPad and iPad 2. We’ve been putting it through its paces this morning (for work purposes only, honest!).
The original StumbleUpon app wasn’t very good to be honest, so we’re over the moon with the improvements they’ve made to the app. It fits in with the nature of Apple’s iPad tablets very well and makes use of different touch gestures within the iOS software.
The app as a whole is finished in a slick black interface which looks great. Simply sign in or create a StumbleUpon account, choose whether or not to link your account with Facebook and Twitter, and away you go! All the familiar features from the StumbleUpon webpage are there: Favourites, Home, Like, Share and of course, the Stumble button in the top left hand corner.
Perhaps the best and most intuitive feature of the new StumbleUpon app is the swipe to stumble feature. If you’re really that lazy, you can simply swipe your finger from right to left across the iPad’s screen to Stumble to the next page. It’s really simple and easy to use and makes Stumbling that bit more addictive!
You’ll also have a host of easy to find sharing options by tapping the familiar iOS share button at the top. From tapping it you’ll get a drop down offering Facebook, Email, Twitter and other Stumbler sharing options. You can select ‘more’ and choose to open in Safari, Google Reader, Instapaper, Tumblr and more. You’re spoilt for sharing choice really.
The app is available now in the App Store and is completely free, alongside the StumbleUpon app for iPhone and iPod Touch which has just been updated to Stumble even faster!
