Stunning iPhone 5 Concept Features Apple’s Magic Mouse Style

  • by

While the iPhone 5 is a long way off becoming official, and is just a twinkle in a fanboy’s eye, it doesn’t stop talented graphic designers from coming up with some interesting concept designs for Apple’s forthcoming smartphone.

One such designer is Federico Ciccarese, who has come up with this stunning concept. As you can see, the emphasis is very much on curves, with the back of the phone featuring a convex curve that looks like it would fit into your palm beautifully. Turn the phone over and the front and screen are also slightly curved, just like Samsung’s Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus smartphones.

The curved back tapers from thick in the centre to very thin at both ends, with the rear camera moving to the centre on the back, and the 3.5mm headphone jack moving from the top to the right edge of the phone. We’re not too sure about the latter, and prefer the headphone jack to be located on the top of our phones to avoid the jack bending in our pockets.

What we like about the design is the way the phone looks like Apple’s Magic Mouse for Macs when placed on its screen. The Apple logo on the rear even glows in Federico’s design – something which can be achieved on the iPhone 4 and 4S using a clever hack, which unfortunately invalidates your warranty. What we would love to see from Apple’s next iPhone is an Apple logo that glows or flashes when you have a notification – how awesome would that be?

While the design is amazing, we’re not sure that Apple will revert to a curved back for its next iPhone, at least not this curved anyway. With Apple recently moving away from its sequential naming strategy for products and naming the iPad 3 simply ‘iPad’, we may not ever see an iPhone 5, just ‘iPhone’. Either way we can expect to find out around September time of this year.

If Apple’s next iPhone looked just like this, would you buy one? Let us know your thoughts on our comments below or via our @Gadget_Helpline Twitter page or Official Facebook group.
