SwiftKey Keyboard now free on Android

I’m sure a lot of you will be more than familiar with the extremely popular keyboard app for Android. Well, today the company behind the successful app have decided to offer the app for free.

The change from a premium app to a free one starts today, along with the company releasing a brand new update which adds a lot more features which users have been requesting over the last few months. One of the new features to be added is a new content store that allows users to purchase premium themes for keyboard layout and customise it as they wish. For users that have previously paid for the app, Swiftkey are offering them a premium themes pack worth $4.99 for free.

Some other new features as part of the update include new emoji support, so for anyone currently running the latest version of Android (4.4), users won’t have to switch back to the stock Android keyboard simply to add an emoji to the conversation. Swiftkey have also listened carefully to user feedback and implemented some other useful new features, such as a new number row, which means that you no longer have to switch to the special character mode in order to enter numbers – something I personally am glad to see.

Obviously, one of the most important features of the keyboard app is its ability to cleverly predict what you want to type, and the engine behind that, has also been improved offering users even more accurate predictions than before.

Finally, Swiftkey have also added additional language support including Belarusian, Mongolian, Tatar, Uzbek and also Welsh.

Swiftkey is a great app, and if you’re up for trying something different to your stock Android keyboard it’s definitely work the download, so head on over to the Play Store now and key typing.
