TomTom has announced its latest super connected Satellite Navigation system to the world in the form of the TomTom Go Live 1005 World which has full access to Twitter, TripAdvisor, Expedia and Yelp.
The App happy SatNav will have access to the likes of Twitter where users can tweet from their TomTom Go Live 1005 unit and can send their location to the tweetsphere, or on the Expedia App you could check your local surroundings for the best Hotel in the area (complete with prices, reviews and the distance/directions to it!) or using Expedia you can check out a nearby restaurant on Yelp
The Go Live 1005 sports a 5-inch WQVGA (480×272) display and will come with Bluetooth connectivity and a battery life of around 2 hours off charge. The 1005 will also come with 8GB of internal flash memory and a SD expandable card slot and is sized at 43 x 88 x 19mm and weighs 266g,
TomTom has been hoping that its App laden units will start to capture the markets attention in 2011 with the rise in smartphone navigation from Apple, Google maps and Nokia taking a hit on the once dominant SatNav provider.
2011 has not been the best of financial years for TomTom as it has announced that its Q3 sales and despite a 50 per cent rise in its Q3 profit, due in large degree to depreciation of the euro against the dollar, sales fell 10 per cent in the same period to €336 million.
The GO LIVE 1005 WORLD comes standard with a series of pre-installed maps of Europe, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Southern Africa, South-East Asia and the US amd will be priced at £329.99 from now onwards.#
