Nine Inch Nails frontman and original Quake composer Trent Reznor has been credited as the musical inspiration behind the recent Batman: Arkham Knight trailer – this came in a tweet from the game’s official Twitter.
@BatmanArkham thanked @trent_reznor for his ‘vision’ on the recent #BeTheBatman teaser and some may have noted that it was the Nine Inch Nails track ‘The Wretched’ (from the powerful 1999 double album ‘The Fragile’) which was used over the clip for the latest game in the popular Arkham series.
Despite being confirmed as music consultant we’re unsure if the trailer will be the extent of Trent’s involvement in Arkham Knight or whether – like with Call of Duty: Black Ops II – he will also supply a theme track or in-game music. We think it’s an opportunity missed if the Industrial Prince of Darkness didn’t get to team up with The Dark Knight. The latest poster for Arkham Knight which is released on June 23rd for PS4 and Xbox One features Robin and the slogan ‘The End Begins’ – suggesting that this might be the final instalment of the current Arkham storyline.
Who better to provide a swansong to this much loved series than the artist who brought us such emotionally grating hymns as ‘The Perfect Drug’ and ‘Hurt’?
