Gadget news website Techradar are reporting that todays imposed Samsung Galaxy range European ban that was announced today will NOT affect the UK according to an official from Samsung.
Following a court ruling that has banned the sale of all of the Samsung Galaxy branded handsets including the very popular Samsung galaxy SII, S and Ace due to a long running Patent infringement dispute with Apple.
TechRadar are reporting that a spokesperson for Samsung has stated that:
“Today’s ruling is an affirmation that the Galaxy range of products is innovative and distinctive,” said the spokesperson.
“With regard to the single infringement cited in the ruling, we will take all possible measures including legal action to ensure that there is no disruption in the availability of our Galaxy smartphones to Dutch consumers.”
“This ruling is not expected to affect sales in other European markets.
“Samsung has a proud history of innovation in the mobile industry.
We will continue our plans to introduce new products and technologies that meet and exceed consumer expectations. And we will defend our intellectual property rights through the ongoing legal proceedings around the world.”
The bones of the case seem to be coming down to a Single Patent infringement which relates to scrolling or gallery browsing on the Galaxy range of handsets which will be hard to keep a whole string of phone from Samsung at bay if this is the case.
With the whole legal wangle escalating it would seem that the issue is coming to a head and that there will be a resolution in the coming weeks.
