Visa ‘V.me’ digital wallet service to launch in 2012

  • by

Hacked off with Paypal? We don’t necessarily blame you. Fear not, though: a new service which will let you pay for items online in a simple, straightforward manner is set to be launched by Visa, in the shape of V.me.

V.me is to go into private testing soon for a launch in 2012, and looks set to land on all major online stores as a new means of payment. The idea is that Visa customers will be able to create an account and upload money from their accounts to be accessed whenever via just a username and password, rather than a full set of card details.

The initial aim is to get this service working as an alternative to lengthy forms on online checkout pages, but Visa has bigger plans for V.me in the future, including moving it into a scenario where it can be used in conjuncture with NFC technology, to let customers pay for items on the move with their mobile phones. Let us know your thoughts on our comments below or via our @Gadget_Helpline Twitter page or Official Facebook group.
