Have you ever wanted to be able to watch live TV on the go with your Apple gadget? Well, a manufacturer by the name of Hauppage might just have the solution for you. The company has just unveiled a nifty little gadget called ‘myTV 2GO’, which lets you stream and record Freeview TV on iOS devices, laptops and macs.
MyTV 2GO is a wireless DVB-T tuner which can interact with your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch using a free app. To watch and record Freeview TV on the go, firstly you have to do is turn the device on and extend its aerial. The little black box then turns itself into a Wi-Fi network which you can see and connect to on your iOS gadget. From there simply open up the free app and away you go.
A Mini USB cable provides charge to the device, and we’re told that one full charge will provide you with 3.5 hours of TV streaming, which is decent. In the box you’ll get a software disc for PC and Mac which will allow recording of Live TV, so you’ll be able to turn your laptop into a portable PVR.
What’s good about the device is that 3G doesn’t come into it at all – it’s all Wi-Fi, which means you won’t use up your mobile data plan watching copious amounts of telly. There’s no subscription for the service either, it’s just a case of a one-off payment for the device and that’s all. It’s expected to launch in the UK within the next few months, with a recommended price tag of £119.
Is this the mobile TV solution you’ve been looking for?
