The Wi-Fi only version of Dell’s second Android tablet, the Streak 7, is now available for a reasonable £299 in the UK.
After seeing sales of the original 5-inch Dell Streak fall short of expectations, Dell decided that 5 inches is both too big to be a phone and too small to be a tablet, and so announced the 7-inch Streak 7.
Running Android 2.2 (FroYo) on a Dual-Core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, the Streak 7 is a speedy and capable tablet device. There’s 16GB of onboard storage, a 5MP rear camera, 1.3MP front-facing webcam plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity inside.
Reports have indicated that the battery life of the Streak 7 isn’t up to scratch due to the inclusion of Android 2.2. Dell are promising that an upgrade to Android Honeycomb (3.0) will be coming along in the future though, which should combat any battery life issues.
The price point is about right, putting the Wi-Fi Streak 7 at the same price as the Wi-Fi Galaxy Tab P1010 and Acer Iconia Tab.
