Wii U: Metal Gear Solid to land on Nintendo’s new console?

  • by
If you’ve seen the announcement trailer for Nintendo’s Wii U console, you’ll probably be excited as to how game developers will be able to implement its mix of physical controls, motion control and that enormous 6.2-inch touchscreen.

You’re not alone. It seems that the developers themselves are now scratching their heads as to what can be done on the system. Konami is one such team. In an interview with EuroGamer, Metal Gear Solid producer Yoshikazu Matsuhana said of the new console:

“We are very much thinking about possibilities with the Wii U and it looks like a very fun system. As for whether we’ll have something at launch for the Wii – we can’t say that. Probably not, but we definitely have things in mind. We’re also looking at the public reaction. If there are enough people who say they want us to bring something to the Wii U that also factors into things.”

We can think of only one Konami title that would attract enough fan demand to warrant a Wii U version: Metal Gear. Indeed, the possibilities with the new controller are endless – such as having the radar/map on the touchscreen for one.
