Amount of Apps Available on the Windows Phone Store Double!

The amount of apps for Windows Phone, found on the Microsoft Windows Phone app store, have appeared to have doubled since this time last year, according to a recent announcement by Microsoft.

“We have more than 300,000 Windows Phone apps today and the Windows Phone Store continues to grow,” a Microsoft spokesperson said when speaking to tech site The Next Web. “In the past year alone the Windows and Windows Phone app catalog has grown 94%, while the number of active developers has grown by 50%.”

According to the tech giant, the range of apps which one can download onto a Windows Phone device has increased massively, due in part to the increasing popularity of the smartphone range. As it stands there are now 300,000 apps available for Windows Phone devices, an increase of 100,000 from December 2013 when only 200,000 were available.

Microsoft has also confirmed that the Windows Phone Store passed the 100,000 apps milestone way back in June 2012, meaning that the increase in popularity has been moving ahead faster than in previous years.

Additionally, according to the announcement, the number of app developers for the operating system has also seen a massive increase, up 50% from the last count, meaning that a lot of the apps coming in brand new are first time submissions from brand new developers.
