Exciting news for grapple game fans, as it’s just been announced today that vintage arcade and console game WWF WrestleFest is to hit the mat for “one more match” on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch from next Tuesday!
The classic 16-bit game Wrestlefest was released in 1991 by Technos based on the colourful characters of the then World Wrestling Federation and featured heroes of the age including the Big Boss Man, Jake The Snake Roberts, Hulk Hogan and Macho Man Randy Savage. 22 years later, Wrestlefest is to be relaunched under current WWE branding through license holder THQ and featuring slick updated HD graphics but presented in a retro style.
The game will feature something for every generation of fan. Reintroducing these old school brawlers as well as superstars of the 90s such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker and The Rock – and the new school fan favourites, names like John Cena, Rey Mysterio and CM Punk, who now bridge the gap between sports entertainment and social media.
The new version of WWE Wrestlefest will also bring a number of match modes, including the original blue bar steel cage, with a wardrobe of changeable ring gear for each superstar and there’s potential for a whole load of downloadable content. Get your pyro ready and slip on your spandex – Wrestlefest is running wild on the Apple App Store from February 21st!
