WWE Pay Per View app coming to Xbox 360

If ya smell… what the WWE is cooking!

Well it appears that the WWE is cooking up an Xbox 360 Pay Per View app that will see all of the future wrestling PPV’s from the WWE available on the console for a price. And just to be sure it’s off to a bang, the company has launched it just before “The grandest stage of them all” with the company’s flagship show, WRESTLEMANIA, which is airing this Sunday to the world (and now to US Consoles!)

The news was announced by Xbox Live’s resident news machine Major Nelson:

“Are you a WWE fan? If so, this one’s for you: WWE launches today on Xbox* in the U.S., just in time for WrestleMania XXIX on April 7. See the WWE Superstars and Divas like never before, from Royal Rumble to WrestleMania. Starting today, all WWE pay-per-view events are available right from your Xbox 360.”

Currently the service is only confirmed for US consoles so in the UK we will have to hold our breath to see if we will get the PPV app, but as the service is aired by Sky via its box office system it’s possible that we in Europe won’t get the application.

It’s a shame as currently only customers with premium TV services such as Sky and Virgin via the Sky Sports PPV system can gain access to WWE’s pay-per-view events, so a subscription on top of the premium service is needed.

What this new feature does show is the continuation of Microsoft turning its former console into an all-round entertainment machine with TV, movies, music and games all provided through one box.
