A leaked video of the Xbox One in action has appeared online and one of the major changes to the console that has thus far been unseen, the dashboard, has been shown off in full action by a lucky Beta tester and in the process an intriguing multitasking function has been revealed.
YouTube user Jackson Carter recently posted the video of the Xbox One console and its controller describing the remote as “A lot more comfortable than the old Xbox (360 controller)”. He then proceeds to show off the dashboard for the Beta version of the console.
The dashboard shares many design aspects with the Windows 8 Metro theme with tiles and a side scrolling action. The new system is obviously being kept in line with the other Microsoft products like the Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 operating systems, which is nice to see
He then goes on to showcase the game Ryse: Son of Rome in its beta form and says that a lot of the games on the system are still in Beta mode, followed by a demonstration of the console’s multitasking features by exiting Ryse whilst the game’s intro is playing. By hitting the home button, the game then goes from full screen to a small window in the dashboard, allowing the user to flick through other apps, change settings and such.
The minimised game will continue on whilst gamers will be able to select other features on the Xbox dashboard. Carter did describe the multitasking as being ‘pretty buggy’ but this is likely to be due to the Beta versions of both the game and the dashboard.
Also in the video we can see some of the features to be expected from the final console and how the dashboard will be laid out including dedicated Games, Music, Movies & TV and Apps sections plus personalised Pins, Bing and Live TV areas.
The original video was quickly removed but another has appeared which you can check out in full below to get a better view of the dashboard.
