It has been confirmed by Microsoft that the Xbox One controller can now be used on PC’s for PC gamers, as the drivers for the controller become available through a download.
The drivers can be downloaded through Major Nelson’s blog and will also become available through a Windows Update.

PC games that support Xbox 360 controllers can now be used with the Xbox One controller thanks to this update, making them compatible through a micro USB cable connection. .
In his blog Major Nelson wrote “We know our fans have wanted PC compatibility, and we know they wanted to be able to use the Xbox One controller with the same games and applications they have been playing with using the Xbox 360 controller. We can’t wait for them to play their favourite PC games with what we consider the best controller ever made and we’re excited for fans to experience the improved D-pad, redesigned battery compartment, new comfortable design and offset analogue sticks.”

The new Xbox One controller contains many improvements from that of its 360 predecessor, more than 40 in fact. One of the improvements includes rumble motors in its trigger buttons that respond differently depending on the action. It also has smaller analogue sticks and a redesigned D-pad.
