Going against the convention of coming second to Sony nearly every month since launch, Microsoft’s Xbox One has outsold Sony’s PlayStation 4 by an estimate of 75,000 in September in the US according to Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter.
Microsoft was estimated to have sole 325,000 Xbox One consoles while the PS4 sold only 250,000; bucking the trend that had seen Sony fly into the lead of the fourth gen console wars.

Conveniently, September also happened to be when the very popular game Destiny was released. Sony tried to market it as a PS4 game despite also being available on Xbox One and older generation consoles.
The Wedbush statistics are just a prediction for the moment but when The NPD Group release the official sales data for September on Thursday.
Analyst Patcher stated this to be part of Microsoft’s success last month “From Sept. 7 through [Sept.] 13, Microsoft offered a free game with the purchase of a new Xbox One at participating retailers,” It seems that making a pledge to consumers’ pockets is the way forward.

The week destiny launched also happened to be the same week Microsoft released a bundle whereby customers could get an Xbox one console with Madden NFL15 and Destiny for $400. While PS4 owners would have had to have spent $450 for the console and Destiny. This saving seems to be what has won over many consumers.
Sony are now releasing a standalone Glacier White PS4 in the UK after having confirmed an Amazon listing confirming it will become available on October 17th for £351. The console doesn’t include any games and only comes with one controller. Originally launched as part of the Destiny bundle, the white PS4 console has since been sold with Driveclub, which as a bundle, happens to also be cheaper than the standalone console at £349.99.
