Google and YouTube have brought their movie rental service to UK YouTubers, meaning that you’ll be able to pay for and watch full length films on YouTube in your browser.
At the moment the site offers films such as ‘Exit Through the Gift Shop’ (The Banksy movie), Batman: The Dark Knight, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and many more. Rentals cost either 30 days, with a 48 hour window to finish watching your movie once you’ve started it.
YouTube has brought in reviews and ratings from the awesome Rotten Tomatoes site too, so you can see how good a film is before paying to rent.
“Now, over a thousand full-length feature films from major Hollywood and British studios are available for rent in the UK at youtube.com/movies,” explains Google.
Hovering over a movie thumbnail will bring up a pop-up giving you information on the film, including a blurb, the film’s rating, year of release and the rotten tomatoes rating – a handy feature which saves you clicking on the film to go to the next page.
Similarly to the Apple and Android App Store, the YouTube Movies page gives you a top 10 rentals and top 10 free films list.
You can access the Movie rentals on YouTube by clicking the ‘Films’ tab at the top of the YouTube homepage. There’s plenty of decent films on offer, so get stuck in!
