Disney Interactive has revealed that a zombie outbreak will invade our favourite ‘Galaxy Far, Far Away’ in an upcoming update to its mobile app game Star Wars: Commander!
The limited time campaign for Star Wars: Commander – which is aptly titled ‘The Sickness’ – will launch on Thursday 30th October, just in time for Halloween. It will introduce a new wave of undead Storm Troopers created by an Imperial research facility on the planet of Dandoran. Players of the mobile game can choose to align with Han Solo and Princess Leia with the heroic Rebels to uncover and eliminate the threat or play as Darth Vader and the Empire to make sure the origin of the bioweapons remains a secret.
Some of the truly terrifying Imperial foot soldiers players will encounter in ‘The Sickness’ campaign include Death Troopers, who are described as Stormtroopers who died a painful death and are a “nearly mindless, cannibalistic monster” with a blaster. Other variations of the virally affected include Scout Death Troopers who crawl quickly across the ground, and Heavy Death Troopers which move slower but can sustain greater damage with lower threshold for pain.
As well as ground based combat there will also be some new aerial assaults on offer including starship strikes for both Rebel and Imperial forces which will wipe out the battlefield of all foes!
Offering epic scale combat in a Command & Conquer: Red Alert style that is tried and battle-tested, the Star Wars: Commander app game has been downloaded more than 32-million times is available on Google Play for Android, the App Store for iOS and Market Place for Windows Phone. The Sickness campaign is available from Thursday 30th October.
