NVIDIA launches new GTX590 dual GPU

The company behind the popular GeForce range of GPUs has today launched its latest all singing all dancing graphics card for all you hard-core gamers.

Essentially the new GTX590 is basically a couple of GTX580 units which have been paired together to make one beast of a GPU. Unfortunately though, NVIDIA had some power and head limitations and therefore were forced to lower the clocks of 1024 CUDA cores in order to overcome this issue.

The new GTX950

Early reviews of the new GTX590 put the GPU within 1% of the AMD Radeon HD 6990, which for people in the know – this is currently the fastest single GPU available on the market. Also, the GTX590 also happens to run quieter than the Radeon HD 6990 as well.

Although the average performance of each GPU is almost the same, unfortunately it’s not quite that simple as both AMD and NVIDIA use completely different computing architectures which can mean quite big differences when performing certain tasks.
