Anticipated and much-rumoured, the Mango update for Windows Phone 7 has been detailed and set for release late this year. The confirmation came in a keynotes speech by the Director of the Window Phone Program, Joe Belfiore, at the Microsoft MIX ’11 in Las Vegas.
Microsoft’s update for the Windows Phone 7 presents some of the user demanded features which Microsoft have kindly addressed in the form of Mango. It brings with it multi-tasking, better integration of apps to phone, camera access, motion sensor library access and a whole bunch of new apps including social and media applications such as Skype and Spotify.
Belfiore stated that web browser IE9 has been faithfully ported to the Window Phone 7 with “greater native HTML5” hardware for “hardware acceleration”. While demonstrating a “read test” the Windows gadget’s FPS rate out-performed iPhone 4 with iOS and Google Nexus S with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
