Sony predict annual loss of $3.2bn – Tragedies in Japan and PSN Fail cost profit

It’s been a seriously bad year so far for Sony, and now the company is predicting to report losses of around $3.2-billion after recent troubles have cost them an expected fall in annual profits.

The Japanese company’s first blow came in wake of the tragic earthquakes and tsunami suffered by Sony’s home country in March. Consumer spending predictably declined by a considerable amount.

Follow this up with the last month’s hacking and intrusion of Sony’s Playstation Network and related online services halting the gaming community – the company lost all grip of an estimated $170-million profit. Also to be considered are insurances and compensations paid with lawsuits still ongoing.

This all equates to a staggering loss for Sony..
