The Live! inPerson webcam from Creative is the first desktop shooter to get the official seal of approval from the Luxembourg-based VoIP service Skype – who are very fussy it seems when it comes to backing anything less than the best.
No surprise there, as many of our readers will know that Microsoft recently made a $8.5-billion deal to snap up Skype – and it looks as though standards are already being raised to meet the high grade expected by the House of M.
Creative state in a press release “We wanted to eliminate choppy video, which is typically caused when the PC can’t handle the encoding fast enough, so we engineered the camera to have the highest frame rate possible”.
A full high-definition webcam experience at a sharp and slick 1080p with frame rates of up to 30fps and built-in H.264 video compression appears to do the trick! With Skype embracing Creative with a pat on the back for their efforts, the cam also brings along its wide-angle lens, auto-focus, business card scanning, movie making and a variety a tricks and effects all included – masses of Skype-ractivity!
The Creative Live! inPerson HD Skype-certified cam is up for grabs this month through the official site for £119.99 – with Amazon also onboard for when the webcam drops.
