Crayola, the makers of the popular range of crayons and creative gear for crafty kids, is bringing the fun to iPad with a ColorStudio HD app and complimenting funky stylus.
Griffin Technology is backing the digital colouring book which features “30 pages of fun, friendly scenes that move as you color them, with surprises to discover on every page” – says the Apple App Store, which will update with new pages for the ColorStudio HD application.
These can be filled in or kids can have free reign on their doodling with the massive child-friendly stylus – dubbed the iMarker. It looks like a big crayon and kids can enjoy the same experience most of us enjoyed “back in the day” within the pages of colouring book on paper – that material which predated tech and tablets. Creations can be shared with Facebook, although we thought Facebook had a minimum age, which makes this strange to read in the App Store spiel.
No-one’s going to tell you off for going outside the lines when you can simply undo your blunders, so it’s not quite the same as when we were kids and youngsters can choose to use their fingers or the exclusive stylus – which isn’t cheap and there are inexpensive alternatives available.
If you have a young Picasso you may be looking at $30 for the app and iMarker.
