I’m sure you’ll be familiar with the Toshiba Thrive 10-inch Tablet, which was one of the first to feature Android Honeycomb, designed specifically for tablet devices. Well, not too long after Toshiba released this to the masses, the tech manufacturer has just announced that it will be releasing a 7-inch version of the Thrive in December.
Officially dubbed the Toshiba Thrive 7”, it will have 1280×800 resolution screen and will feature Toshiba’s Adaptive Display along with Resolution+ video enhancements, all designed to give you the best visual experience possible, and is the first 7-inch tablet to give a true HD quality display.
As well as featuring Android 3.2 (Honeycomb), the Thrive 7” will also feature the NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor for super quick performance, along with a NVIDIA GeForce GPU, which Toshiba say will give you gaming console quality.
The Thrive 7” weighs 399 grams and is just under half an inch thin, which should allow you to easily fit the tablet in your bag or jacket pocket. Toshiba also say the tablet has been designed for on-the-go durability so you shouldn’t have to worry about the device being too sensitive to the knocks and bumps experienced in day-to-day use.
The Thrive 7” is also better connected; it features ports including Micro USB, Micro HDMI as well as an external Micro SD card slot for expanding the internal memory. You’ll also get the usual Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS functionality on the Thrive 7” as well.
As mentioned, the Thrive 7” is expected to go on sale sometime in December this year, and although no specific information about pricing has been released, it’s expected that it will cost around $400 (£255).
