Now that Apple have got those pesky iPhone and iPod updates and announcements out, it’s now time to turn our Apple-dar (no we’re not sure it works either!) to the other side of Apple’s business – the home computing sector and more importantly Macs and MacBooks.
Its looking set that before Christmas hits Apple will be updating its MacBook Pro line-up with some better specs and possibly even a bit of a design overhaul. Rumours are flying around regarding what Apple could bring to an update, with Apple Mac mad website 9to5mac reporting that the new range will feature updates to the processor and hard drive components:
New 13-inch MacBook Pro:
- 2.4 GHz dual-core processor, 4 GB of RAM, 500 GB hard drive, SD card slot
- 2.8 GHz dual-core processor, 4 GB of RAM, 750 GB hard drive, SD card slot
New 15-inch MacBook Pro:
- 2.2 GHz quad-core processor, 4 GB of RAM, 500 GB hard drive, SD card slot
- 2.4 GHz quad-core processor, 4 GB of RAM, 750 GB hard drive, SD card slot
New 17-inch MacBook Pro:
- 2.4 GHz quad-core processor, 4GB, 750 GB hard drive, SD card slot, Express Card slot
Built-to-order configurations:
- 15-inch: 2.5 GHz, 4 GB of RAM, 750 GB hard drive (faster 7200 RPM)
- 17-inch: 2.5 GHz, 4 GB of RAM, 750 GB hard drive (faster 7200 RPM)
9to5mac are reporting that the info is coming from a secret source inside Apple and the spec updates don’t seem to big a change. What is apparent is that Apple are raising the bar for its MacBook Pro’s basic performance levels and we might be in for a aesthetic change more than an internal one.
The updated line-up is rumoured to be coming in November but with no official statement or word from Apple we will just have to wait for the infamous “We’ll be back soon” post-it.
