Cloud storage is all the rage at the moment and those of us lucky enough to have an Android-running HTC smartphone will now be getting an additional 5GB worth of storage in the cloud courtesy of Dropbox and HTC.
Last night HTC confirmed via its Twitter account that all of its Android smartphones will be getting 5GB of extra memory through the Dropbox cloud storage service. HTC and Dropbox had previously announced that they would be supplying its customers with the additional 5GB but it was thought to be an offer only for new HTC customers with the latest HTC Sense 3.5 user interface.
However, it turns out that the additional 5GB of storage will be available to all HTC customers, as in the Tweet by HTC the company stated:
“We’re proud to announce that we’ve partnered with Drop box, bringing 5GB of storage to all of our Android phones.”
Dropbox is a well known cloud storage provider, whose service gives customers an allowance of storage space with which to store their files, be it music, movies, documents, photos or anything else the user needs to store away. Users will be able to install the free Dropbox app on their HTC smartphones and access their files while on the move by retrieving them from their Dropbox storage account.
Take into consideration it is just a Tweet and sometimes you should take the information with a pinch of salt, but if the offer is available to all HTC Android users then this will seriously boost the memory capacity of all HTC Android smartphones.
