iPhone 4S Owners Reporting SIM Card Issues

Not long after Apple released an update to their iOS software that addressed the problem with poor battery performance, it seems that some users are starting to experience another extremely frustrating problem with their iPhone where it stops recognising the SIM card.

There is currently a thread on the Apple support forums where owners are discussing why suddenly their iPhone has stopped recognising the SIM card. Some  owners are saying that  rebooting the iPhone 4S acts as a temporary solution to the problem, however the vast majority on the forum are saying that their iPhone has completely stopped recognising the Micro SIM, even after attempting a reboot, and a restore.

Also, based on what’s been discussed on the forum, it doesn’t seem to be a problem that’s isolated to one network carrier.

Oddly, there are some users that have requested new Micro SIMS from the network carrier and have said that it seems to have resolved the problem. So it’s not really clear if it’s a problem with the iPhone hardware, the software, or perhaps a bad batch of Micro SIM cards across a selection of network carriers.

We’ll watch this closely and if we get any more info, you can be assured we’ll let you know.
