Symbian Belle Update Officially Arriving Early 2012

A lot of Nokia users have been patiently waiting for the Belle update, hoping it would arrive for their Symbian ^3 smartphones sooner rather than later.

The problem is, Nokia has never issued a timeline or announced specific dates for when future updates would be made available for the OS. Frustratingly for owners, Nokia had been demonstrating current models with the Belle update during Nokia World – arguably giving the impression that the update would soon be rolled out, possibly by the end of the year.

Well, Nokia has now issued a statement regarding the Belle update, saying:

Nokia Belle is the latest Symbian software release with all-new user interface, improved user experience, and dozens of improved and new features. We have already shipped Nokia 603, 700 and 701 with Belle software this year, and have received great feedback on the new user experience.

We will make Nokia Belle available to consumers globally by rolling out the Belle software for the existing Nokia range of smartphones such as N8, E7, X7, C6-01, C7, Oro, E6, and Nokia 500 in early 2012. With that, millions of consumers around the world will get a totally fresh experience on their Symbian smartphone.

So, it would seem that the update won’t be here by the end of the year, instead we’ve been promised it will arrive early 2012. Again, no exact date – although the Nokia Facebook page does mention that Belle will be rolled out in February.

Anyway, Symbian ^3 owners have waited this long already for the update, I’m sure an extra couple of months won’t matter too much.
