Lady Gaga is NOT giving away free iPad 2 tablets – Social star hit by another hack!

Social-savvy pop personality Lady Gaga is not giving away the latest Apple iPad as was previously stated through the bizarre star’s Twitter and Facebook presences. It’s been reported that her accounts were actually hacked and used in a phishing scam – and there will in fact be no top tablet gifts from Gaga this Christmas.

@LadyGaga declared “Monsters, I’m giving away FREE iPad2’s to each one of you in the spirit of the holidays :)” whilst the out-of-this-world singer’s Facebook page stated “Lady Gaga’s new iPad comes out in 3 days!” and another reading “So for the next 72 hours we will be hosting a massive giveaway to all the Mother Monster fans. Sign up and receive your special Lady Gaga edition iPad in time for the Holidays! For contest rules and registration visit the link below.”

The link and sign up as we now know is a scam and Gaga’s people got on the case quickly removing the offending posts from both social sites before many could fall victim. The singer has since tweeted “Phew. The hacking is over! And just in time, I’m on my way to Japan! So excited to spend Xmastime with my TokyoMonsters!”

It’s been a somewhat Bad Romance between the star and the internet this year, with this becoming the second hack on the quirky songstress in 2011. At the height of her Fame, Lady Gaga has been hit online twice with an earlier attack by SwagSec, who accessed her official website and stole the information of registered account holders – also leaving some very nasty remarks about the singer on his Twitter.

The star also saw her YouTube Channel suspended in 2011 over a copyright row with a Japanese TV channel she performed on. But she did, however, become the Associated Press Entertainer of the Year, where she dropped Apple’s late CEO Steve Jobs to second place (No – We also have no idea why Jobs was in the nominees for entertainers!)

Lady Gaga is followed by 17,162,436 on Twitter and has 45,800,978 Likes on Facebook (at time of writing). When the iPad 2 prize scam hit the social web ‘luckily’ only 100,000 of the star’s ‘Monsters’ (her name for fans) fell for it. The rest saw past the Pokerface and were wise enough to avoid.
