HTC Confirms Which Phones Will Get the Ice Cream Sandwich Update

  • by

We already know that HTC’s Sensation family of phones is set to get the update to Android 4.0 soon, but we’re sure many of you are out there with older HTC Droids, thinking “will I get my update?”

Thankfully HTC has answered, posting a lengthy list of products which will definitely get the update to Ice Cream Sandwich. There are a few surprise additions and omissions on the list – HTC has added the Desire S and Desire HD to the list, which were originally left out when the company first announced via Facebook which phones would get the update. We saw many fans of both phones complain to HTC via the Facebook Page, and it looks like the company took notice.

However, there still seems to be a few omissions from the list, some glaring. The Mytouch 4G Slide is a U.S handset that has virtually the same internal specifications as the Sensation, yet HTC won’t be updating it, at least not for now. With the addition of the Desire HD we thought the Desire Z would join the list, but alas it too has been left out.

The full list of devices that will update to ICS is:

  • DROID Incredible 2 by HTC
  • HTC Amaze 4G
  • HTC Desire S
  • HTC Desire HD
  • HTC EVO 3D
  • HTC EVO Design 4G
  • HTC Incredible S
  • HTC Sensation
  • HTC Sensation XL
  • HTC Sensation 4G
  • HTC Sensation XE
  • HTC Raider
  • HTC Rezound
  • HTC Rhyme
  • HTC Thunderbolt
  • HTC Vivid

The Sensation and Sensation XE models are getting the update now, with regions in Germany and Norway first to get a bite of that Ice Cream Sandwich goodness. HTC says the Sensation 4G and Sensation XL will follow, and once the Sensation family is done they will move on to shipping the update to the rest of the phones on the list.

Stay tuned for the latest on when you will be able to update to Android 4.0 with your HTC.
