Nokia’s next OS currently being developed under the name “Carla” has been sighted in a few new screenshots which have made their way online through Nokianesia blog.
Just like Samsung and Apple handsets, future Nokia smartphones which come with the Symbian Belle OS successor will include a swipe to unlock feature in place of the former button, as well as generously sized QWERTY keyboard which spans across half of the screen for easy quick fire texting. The new images also show the web browser and a music player in action, possibly indicating a new musical direction and bringing the Symbian OS more in tune with Nokia’s Ovi music store.
Nokia Carla, as it’s currently being called, looks well into development and is the third native OS in Nokia’s Symbian series. The software is believed to be arriving in the third quarter of the year, after July and before September on Nokia devices including the C6-01, C7, E6, E7, N8 as well as the 603, 700 and 701.
