Been trying to kick that Skyrim addiction? If you’ve got the Kinect accessory for Xbox 360 then we’ve got some bad news for your attempt to stay clean. Bethesda has just announced that you’ll be able to use Kinect’s voice control capabilities within Skyrim come the end of the month.
A whole host of aspects from the role playing game will soon be controllable by voice, saving you those vital few seconds spent button bashing as you enter battle. With Kinect plugged in to your Xbox you’ll be able to use voice to control your follower, speaking commands such as “Allie, stay” and “Allie, follow”, as well as executing shouts. The latter will allow you to cast a spell or perform an attack immediately as you speak it.
Kinect integration will allow you to check your map and find out where exactly you are within the expansive world of Skyrim with just a simple “where am I?” – something we find ourselves asking far too often.
Looting and trading is made easier with voice integration as you can speak commands such as “loot”, “trade items” and “sort by value” when the time comes. Strategy can be changed on the go along with assigning hotkeys using Kinect – there are many more ways that Kinect can be used, these are simply what Bethesda has advised to start you off.
Finally, and perhaps most usefully for those calamitous gamers out there, a game can be saved and loaded at a moment’s notice using your voice – perfect for that ill-advised jump from a cliff that’s bound to end in disaster.
Kinect integration will be added to Skyrim as part of a free update which will launch later this month.
