Assassin’s Creed III is taking aim at the pre-Christmas battle for the gaming market, hitting consoles including the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 from October 31st.
Windows PC gamers were hoping to join the Revolution at the same time, but a tip-off from Eurogamer could throw that release date into controversy.
Following preceding titles in the series such as Assassin’s Creed 2, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, which were also made available slightly later on PC than the console versions, the latest instalment looks to also be held off if the promotional source supplying the gaming website with its information is a trusted one.
Assassin’s Creed III will reportedly arrive on the desktop platform on November 23rd. Not only have Assassin’s Creed titles been delayed by Ubisoft in the past, but a number of other titles from the publisher have suffered similarly before arriving on PC. Whilst the delays may seem annoying, it has been suggested that they are used to ensure protection for the games against online piracy.
The Assassin’s Creed III game is set in 1777 in the midst of the English/American Revolutionary War in the Mohawk Valley of the State of New York. The secret Templar War also plays an background part in the battle – seen only to the eyes of us gamers – with a British/Native descendant taking up the assassin’s mantle as the playable hero.Real-life history will be referenced and iconic figures such as George Washington appear in the gaming scenarios and who was seen in the first trailer for the game commanding his troops.
