Google has launched a new Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean update to its products which will issue a fix to a bug that removed the month of December from devices, so effectively Google has fixed December!
The update has first been released to the flagship Nexus devices; namely the Google Nexus 7 tablet, LG Nexus 4 smartphone, HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus smartphone and the Nexus 10 tablet, and it has fixed a range of minor issues and users who have the update are already reporting speed improvements in general use.
The update fixes the “December bug” that we previously reported in the 4.2 update which caused the entire last month of the year to be omitted from Jelly Bean’s Contacts app. This basically meant that any contact’s birthdays in December would not be displayed, so the update will fix this issue!
Bluetooth music streaming has also been removed as previous reports of a disrupted audio stream have been fixed.
The update is only 1.1MB and is coming to devices over the air in batches, so not all devices have received it yet but you can manually check for the 4.2.1 update by going through your settings menu, into the About phone menu and selecting “Check now”.
It’s not often that a Google software release contains such an obvious bug but users of the Nexus devices will be pleased with the speed of the repair, especially as the devices are the only ones to have Android 4.2 at the moment.
