In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of both Street Fighter and Mega Man, creator Capcom has thrown both of its classic gaming franchises into the arena in a very special 8-bit mash-up which will be unveiled at the Street Fighter competition grand finals and will become a free download on December 17th, starting on PC.
After taking on the titans of Tekken earlier this year, the classic combatants from veteran fight franchise Street Fighter will meet the blue bomber Mega Man in the imaginatively titled ‘Street Fighter X Mega Man’. The game will play like a classic Mega Man title in glorious scrolling 8-bit visuals and with a pumping retro soundtrack featuring familiar tunes from both franchises.
Players will control Dr Light’s greatest creation as he battles through bad guy bots in SF-inspired levels, eventually challenging the classic 8 characters from the Street Fighter II game including Ryu, Ken, Chun Li and Blanka, which appear as the stage bosses. Each of these legendary fighters will show off unique abilities as seen in their respective classic and we do expect that to mean flaming upper cuts and spinning bird kicks!
Street Fighter is coming to the end of an exciting year of celebration just as Mega Man is kicking off its own so this is the perfect time for this clash of classics from Capcom and Christian Svensson, SVP of Consumer Software at the company says “Our fans have been so supportive of the 25th Anniversary efforts on Street Fighter, that we wanted to provide one last surprise and token of our appreciation”.
These gaming greats collide when Street Fighter X Mega Man is released as a free download for PC on December 17th.
