Samsung Galaxy Note II users will be getting a nice little software update for their already pretty advanced Google Jelly Bean OS. The 4.1.2 update is reportedly landing on Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phones at the moment, bringing a few new features to the massive smartphone (or small tablet).
The update was originally released for Samsung’s Galaxy SIII smartphone, bringing a host of previously Note II-specific features such as split screen apps, and now the update is also coming to the Note 2 and is bringing a few new features too.
According to SamMobile, some of the features in Android 4.1.2 include:
- New additions in Notification Toggles
- Notification Panel can now be customised
- Brightness slider in Notification Panel can now be disabled
- Multi-View can now be disabled
- Browser is smoother than before
- Status Bar has been changed from Grey to Black
- Continuous input in Samsung Keyboard (like Swipe or Android 4.2 keyboard)
- New ink effect on lockscreen
- New Group Cast application
The features are pretty strong for such an incremental update, but with Samsung still not upgrading to the Jelly Bean 4.2 OS the 4.1.2 update brings quite a few Samsung features to the Note 2.
These include the ability to disable Multi-View, new items in the notification toggles, a customisable notification panel, a new ink effect on the lock screen, and Swype-style typing.
The update is rolling out in phases OTA (over the air) so if you haven’t received the update immediately then you may have to wait a while, but you can see if the update is available by connecting the smartphone to the Samsung Kies software on a PC.
