The LG Optimus 4X HD is a pretty good smartphone with its high end features and great screen, but sadly the handset has always been slightly behind the curve with its software. However, as with all good underdogs the 4X HD is still battling on as LG may be releasing the latest form of Android onto the handset.
Yes; it’s looking like the Optimus 4X HD will be getting the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS in the next month thanks to a leak from Italian site Caotic, who claim that they have received an email from an LG representative who has said the Jelly Bean update will hit “during the first quarter of 2013” on the Optimus 4X HD.

Seeing as we are 1 month into Q1 of 2013 that means we only have 2 more months for the OS update to land.
It’s likely that the 4.1 software will land on European handsets during this timescale, going by the source, and at the moment there is no information as to which countries will get it going forward and if this is to be expanded out to other countries and regions.
The LG Optimus 4X HD was a decent handset when it was released but sadly it was a high end smartphone that did nothing better than its rivals from Samsung and HTC, but it was released over 3 months later than the Galaxy S3 and HTC One X which made the LG offering slightly redundant.
However, with the Jelly Bean update coming it still shows that LG will be putting some effort into the smartphone, which is good news for 4X owners.
The future is bright for LG as they are currently the manufacturer of the highly sought-after Google Nexus 4 Android device, so it does show that LG can make excellent handsets.
Keep checking your smartphones settings to see if the 4.1 update is landing on your handset soon.
