Angry Birds Friends now on iOS and Android – Angry Birds goes free on Windows Phone 8

It’s apparently an Angry Birds day if you have an Android, iOS or a Windows Phone 8 smartphone as Rovio has announced two major changes today to its game.

Firstly, the popular Angry Birds Friends that was previously only available on Facebook is now coming out on the iOS and Android. Secondly, the Windows Phone 8 version of the original game is now free for the next 2 weeks.

First up though is yet another Angry Birds game available on the Google Play Store and App Store for Android and iOS devices respectively. Following on from Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Rio, Angry Birds Star Wars and the spin-off game Bad Piggies, Rovio has released the collection of levels called Angry Birds Friends which had previously only been available online via Facebook.

Friends offers something slightly different in that you are pitted against your friends in a scoring competition and you can play directly against each other and prove you are the best bird slinger in your social group.

And for Windows Phone 8 customers, they can now get on the Angry Birds free train too by downloading the game from the Windows Phone Marketplace. Up until the the 15th of May and you can get the original Angry Birds for free.

This will be available for all Windows Phone 8 users, with devices including the Lumia 920 and 820, Samsung Ativ and Windows Phone 8X by HTC.

As the game is a few years old, customers will get access to hundreds of levels due to its continued expansion, so even if you are not a major fan of the grumpy avian franchise then it’s worth a download for free, if just to have a huge number of levels to play at any time.

Angry Birds is available on the Windows Phone Marketplace now for free until May 15th and you can download Angry Birds Friends from the App Store and Google Play for free – with adverts, of course – from now onwards.
