With less than one week until Apple’s annual WWDC event kicks off in San Francisco, the Cupertino company has slipped out a bug fixing, problem solving software updates for iMac, MacBook and Mac Mini products; OS X 10.8.4.
The new version is recommended for Mountain Lion users to download right away as it fixes several problems found throughout Apple’s desktop operating system, including Wi-Fi issues and problems with the iMessage service.
Apple has taken into account numerous issues reported from its latest version of OS X and issued fixes, including one that resolves a problem that prevented people from making FaceTime calls to certain non-US numbers.
VoiceOver has been improved when it comes to PDF documents and there’s also a brand new version of the Safari web browser, plus improvements to Microsoft Exchange functionality in iCal.
The update is likely to be the last minor update to Mountain Lion before Apple introduces a brand new version of OS X next week at WWDC. Already known numerically as OS X 10.9, the new update is expected to bring Apple’s laptops and desktops more in line with its mobile devices, further blurring the lines between OS X and iOS. Which animal it will be named after is still up for debate though – Pussy Cat, anyone?
