LOVEFiLM has announced a partnership with Disney which will bring old and new movies to its streaming service, making classics such as Lady and the Tramp available on mobile devices, games consoles and of course, PCs.
LOVEFiLM Instant will receive a big boost in the form of a collection of Disney movies, which is something its main rival Netflix also did just over a month ago. Similarly, Sky also added Disney movies to its On Demand service and also launched a dedicated Disney HD channel.
“Disney is renowned for creating world famous, quality family entertainment that parents can trust; from the earliest animations to modern classics. We are thrilled to enhance our relationship with the launch of Disney Movies on Demand, and even more excited about bringing our members so much new content in the process” said Simon Norris, chief marketing officer for LOVEFiLM.
A bunch of Disney content is already up and available through the Instant service, with movies such as Ratatouille, WALL-E and The Aristocats loaded up and ready to go, many of which are available in HD.
LOVEFiLM Instant costs £4.99 per month and provides access to stream a range of movies, TV shows and features. There’s currently over 3,000 titles to choose from, all of which can be streamed on PC, Mobile and Console.
The Amazon-owned company has been on a content-adding and deal-making warpath of late and the Disney deal is the latest of many which include Nickelodeon, MTV, Warner Bros TV and Comedy Central.
It would seem that Disney is the flavour of the week for streaming services, with all of the big guns recently announcing deals with Walt’s movie house. Who will be next?
