We’re currently in the middle of Gamescom – one of the biggest gaming events of the calendar year – and things have swung around to Sony’s turn to show off. Shortly after revealing the final piece of the PS4 puzzle – the release date itself – Sony has given us a whopping 33 launch titles to gawp at.
From the original reveal back in February to E3 and beyond, we’ve already heard of a number of titles coming to the PlayStation 4. Some we’ve seen in action thanks to gameplay demos, whilst others have remained a secret.
A number of the launch titles will be on Blu-ray, meaning they’re likely to be packing in a LOT of content – much more than a standard DVD can handle, anyway. There’s also a number of digital titles coming out before 2014, which is likely to become the norm as we head into an era of gaming whereby downloads will be as big as discs.
The full list of digital downloads coming to the PS4 before 2014 is as follows:
- Basement Crawl (digital)
- Blacklight (digital)
- Contrast (digital)
- DC Universe Online (digital)
- Doki-Doki Universe (digital)
- Flower (digital)
- Hohokum (digital)
- Minecraft (digital)
- N++ (digital)
- Pinball Arcade (digital)
- Planetside 2 (digital)
- Pool Nation Extreme (digital)
- ResoGun (digital)
- Super Motherload (digital)
- The Playroom (preinstalled)
- Tiny Brains (digital)
- Warframe (digital)
- War Thunder (digital)
There’s also, of course, a number of the big name franchises. Interestingly these will also be digital downloads, so if you’re a really lazy gamer then you might not ever need to leave the house.
- Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag (Blu-ray/digital)
- Battlefield 4 (Blu-ray/digital)
- Call of Duty: Ghosts (Blu-ray/digital)
- DriveClub (Blu-ray/digital)

If you’re wondering what the pre-installed The Playroom is; it’s a game designed to teach you how to use the new DualShock 4 controller and the PlayStation camera – if you choose to buy one separately, that is.
