Word is that Sony has simply not been able to supply the large amount of handsets that Pre-orders have amassed for the smartphone.
Sony announced that they are experiencing issues with meeting their release target, by stating:
“Xperia Z2 will be available in the UK during April and we are expecting to deliver to all consumers who have placed a pre-order through our key partners,” and that they “are working tirelessly to maximise stock levels in April but currently we do not expect to meet the high demand across all our sales channels.”
The big word there is “key partners”, who we can all assume is companies like Carphone Warehouse, Phones4U and UK Networks, all of which will already have a high demand for the handset. Especially as there has been a strong pre-order campaign by many retailers (no doubt backed by Sony) which has a lot of the pre-orders supplemented by free gifts such as Sony Bravia TV’s and Headphone/Speaker packages.
We can see why people are excited though, as the Sony Xperia Z2 is the follow-up to the great Z1 from 2013, but with a new quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB RAM and a 20.7 megapixel camera which can record in 4K as well as being waterproof and super tough.
What are more the Xperia Z2 comes with the latest version of Android, 4.4 KitKat too as well as Sony’s Android Timescape UI.
If you have a Pre-Order set you might want to check with your supplier just when you will be getting the Xperia Z2, if not you can expect the handset to be released in the next few weeks.
