Aluminium Nokia Lumia 925 “Catwalk” to be revealed at May 14th press event?

Earlier today the new Nokia Lumia 928 leaked online and was teased in official press shots by Nokia, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only new handset to be hitting the shelves in the coming months. It’s looking set that Nokia will be launching another new Lumia smartphone as soon as next week at a May 14th press event.

The handset is expected to be the rumoured (and leaked) Nokia Lumia 925, or “Catwalk” as it has been codenamed, and it’s looking like Nokia will announce the latest phone in the Lumia range as soon as next week at its press event in London.

The Lumia 928 that was teased by Nokia today is set to be a US-only exclusive version of the Lumia 920, so it’s good to see that Nokia is coming straight to us folks in the UK with the next handset.

However, the news of the secret press event has been leaked by Chinese site Windows Phone Bar, where they outed the Lumia 920 follow-up’s reveal to be the May 14th event in London.

Nokia has previously invited press to the event where it stated that it will continue “the Nokia Lumia story.” However, there has been little information on what this story will entail.

The Nokia Catwalk first appeared in rumour form way back in January and it’s always been presumed to be a Nokia Lumia 920 follow-up, whilst not being the next generation of Lumia smartphones. Reports in the past have hinted that the smartphone will have a lighter aluminium body which is a step away from the current polycarbonate bodies used in Nokia’s current range of Lumia phones.

Specs-wise the Catwalk is expected to include a 4.5-inch 1280 x 768 OLED display running off a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. Inside there will be 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, plus an 8.7-megapixel camera on the back.

Overall these specifications aren’t very far from the 920 but we can expect to see a lighter and arguably more stylish metal Lumia launched pretty soon.
